Animals in Kibale National Park
Kibale is famous for its chimpanzees, often seen moving in large groups through the treetops. Besides these apes, 12 other primate species live here, including red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Forest elephants, bushbucks, and various small antelopes also inhabit the park.
Over 370 bird species have been recorded in Kibale, including the rare green-breasted pitta, hornbills, and many species of trogons and turacos. The park’s swamps are also home to numerous amphibians and colourful butterflies.
